Temptation

 

Judges 16:1-14

 

Samson loves women and falls for Delilah among them. Even when the Philistine leaders bribe Delilah with money, Samson plays around with lies, ignoring Delilah's request for the secret of his power. However, Samson's answer came closer and closer to the hair of his head, the secret of his strength.

 

Samson forgets that he is a holy nation as a Nazarite, and is falling into a dangerous path for women. Realizing that we too are Nazarites, holy people of God, we must resist various temptations of the world through the Word, prayer, and the help of God the Holy Spirit.

 

Delilah continues to seduce Samson to uncover the secret of its power. Samson tells it a lie, but is getting close to divulging the secret. We must resist the temptations of the persistent world and Satan with constant prayer and constant vigilance.

 

God, help us not to forget that we are the Nazarites, holy people of God, and keep awake and pray so that we do not fall into many worldly temptations and the continuous delusion of Satan, and overcome them with the help of the Word and the Holy Spirit!
