Victory Achieved Together

Victory Achieved Together

Joshua 10:29-43

Joshua defeated the five Amorite kings who were hiding in the cave of Makkedah in southern Canaan. And Joshua moved to Makkedah, followed by Libnah, Lachish, Eglon, Hebron, and Debir, and conquered those cities. In the process, they also defeat Gezer, who came to help Lachish. The expression ‘Joshua fought with all the Israelites who followed him’ is repeated several times. This shows that the victory was achieved together with Joshua leading the way and all the people following. In this way, Israel completely took control of the southern region of Canaan and returned to Gilgal.

God was the one who fought on Israel's side and allowed Joshua to take possession of all the kings of Libnah, Lachish, Ekron, Hebron, Debir, Kadesh Barnea, Gaza, Goshen, and Gibeon and their lands at once (30, 32, 41, 42). God is the one who gives victory to those who obey. Joshua's successive victories came not from strategy or fighting power, but from thorough obedience to the word of God. God does not work without our obedience, and we can accomplish nothing without God's support. Approach God actively yet humbly.

We must obey completely, win, and take possession of the land (29, 31, 34, 36, 38, 41-43). The mission of God's kingdom community must be carried out through cooperation between leaders and members. Like Joshua and the people who followed him, our community must have leaders and members share a mission, be of the same mind, and work together. What efforts are we making to achieve this synergy?

Synergy effect is when two or more elements interact with each other and the combined effect produces a greater effect than the effect of the individual elements. It is also called cooperative action or synergistic effect.

We must cherish each other's members and cooperate here, so that leaders and members become one and use the gifts and talents that the Lord has given each of us to work together for the Lord's kingdom and glory.

Yesterday, I visited a Pakistani brother in Cheonan Prison along with another Pakistani brother. Even though he is in prison, I want to pray and comfort him so that he can walk with the Lord like Joseph and Paul and fulfill the mission given by the Lord there.

Last Monday and Tuesday, I went to a nursing home and nursing hospital to lead worship and pray for the patients. Especially on Tuesday, I went there with my eldest son.

Last Saturday and Sunday, foreign workers from countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand met to preach the word of God and study the Bible together. Next Monday, there will be a prayer meeting of MIC (Korea International Mission Society). We pray for the missionaries in all the countries and hope to work together in this work so that all the countries can return to the Lord and praise God our Father and our Lord Jesus.

God, let us become one and glorify You by obeying with all our hearts the mission You have given us, church ministry, hospital ministry, correctional (prison) ministry, foreign worker ministry, local online ministry, and MIC (Korea International Mission) ministry. Let us give it to You!
