Let us return to Jehovah
Lamentations 3:40-54
When Israel was with God, they were a strong nation that crossed the Red Sea and toppled the walls of Jericho. But now that they have left God, they have become a nation of trash and filth, ignored among other nations. The way for them to escape this painful situation is to reflect on their sins and ‘return to Jehovah.’ Jeremiah expresses his sorrow through tears. And he does not give up and waits for the help of God who looks after his people.
True repentance means changing one's heart. Returning to Jehovah is not a general statement of repentance, but a specific plan and action to dramatically change my entire life in accordance with the Word of God. Let us examine our actions one by one, acknowledge our sins, and offer sincere prayers of sorrow.
Tears flow uncontrollably from Jeremiah's eyes. They are not only tears of despair and deep sadness, but also tears of confidence that God will one day restore them. Like Jeremiah, what should we pray for with tears for the church and country?
Lord, as we mourn the sins of our nation and community, let our prayers of hopeful tears never cease.
주여, 우리 민족과 공동체의 죄를 애도하는 가운데 희망의 눈물의 기도가 그치지 않게 하소서.
