I pray that you will walk worthy of the Lord.

 

Colossians 1:1-14

 

After hearing the faith and love of the saints in Colossae, Paul thanked God, and prayed that they would know God's will and act worthy of the Lord.

 

Paul prays for the saints to know the will of God through the wisdom and understanding (intelligence) that the Holy Spirit gives them. Because only then can you discern the clever claims of false teachers.

 

What is the ‘life worthy of the Lord’ that Paul prayed for? Bearing fruit in every good work, as the gospel grows in the whole world, so the saints grow in the knowledge of God. Through the power given by God, the Sovereign of the world, we endure all things but endure with joy, and the eternal kingdom (inheritance) We thank God for allowing us to participate. When we have the wisdom to know the will of God, we can believe that this life is the only thing worthwhile. Therefore, we must earnestly ask God to help us live the will of God as we know it, and we must strive to live that way every day.

 

Salvation is an event in which sovereignty is replaced. Salvation is that we, who were ruled under the power of darkness, have our sins forgiven through Jesus and become the people of the kingdom that He rules.

 

God, thank you for allowing us to become the people of your kingdom from the power of darkness through Jesus. Help us to properly discern the will of God so that we do not be deceived by false teachers and live a life worthy of the Lord!
