A Seed of Misery
Judges 19:1-10
A Levite who lived in the hill country of Ephraim had a concubine, but she committed fornication and left her home and went to Bethlehem, her hometown. Four months later, the Levite went to the father-in-law's house to find a concubine, and there he stayed there for five days to meet the father-in-law's hospitality and continuous demands.
A Levite who was to worship God and serve in the tabernacle lived in the hill country of Ephraim and had a concubine. Just like in the times of the judges, when the corruption of the priests led to the corruption of the nation, let's look at whether the corruption of our society today has its roots in the corruption of the church.
The Levite is slowing down his path with his father-in-law's continued hospitality and demands. Because of this, it became the seed of unhappiness. All they could do was eat and drink and make their hearts happy. They hadn't seriously considered their daughter's faults or what problems they had. Let's be more vigilant so that we don't fall into hospitality that makes us forget the way we should go and what we should do.
God, make us look back to see if our church has the same image as the corruption of the priests in the Age of Judges! Let us guard ourselves so that we do not fall into the temptation to forget the way we ought to go and what we should do!
May the leaders find the lost souls with the heart of the Lord who is the true shepherd who seeks the lost sheep that have left the flock, and let the lost souls return to the bosom of the Lord!
