지난 주에 어떻게 보냈나요? How did you spend last week?

모든 사람은 크고 작은 실수를 저지릅니다. Everyone makes mistakes, big and small. 그에 대해 책임을 지는 것이 마땅하지만, 만약 모든 경우에 ‘동해보복(눈에는 눈)’을 내세우며 그대로 갚아준다면, 이 사회는 어떻게 될까요? It is right to take responsibility for that, but what would happen to this society if we were to repay the same in all cases by advocating ‘eye for an eye’? 아마도 끝없는 보복으로 가득한 피의 정글이 되고 말 것입니다. It will probably end up being a bloody jungle full of endless revenge. 예수님은 이와같은 죄와 죄책의 굴레를 스스로 끊어내지 못하는 인간을 구원하시기 위해 이 땅에 오셨습니다. Jesus came to this earth to save humans who cannot break the bondage of sin and guilt on their own. 이 은혜의 혜택을 받으려면 한 가지 조건이 필요합니다. One condition is required to benefit from this grace. 최소한 자신이 죄를 범한 것을 인정하는 것입니다. It is to at least acknowledge one's own sins. 이렇게 가난한 심령을 품은 사람에게는 복수의 악순환을 끊을 도피성이 차별 없이 열려 있습니다. For those who have such a poor spirit, the refuge to break the vicious cycle of revenge is open without discrimination.

 

□말씀과 나눔 Words and Sharing

1. 도피성은 범죄자의 은신처가 아닙니다(1~6절).

1. The city of refuge is not a hiding place for criminals (verses 1-6).

1) 도피성이 세워진 목적은 무엇입니까?(2~3절)

1) What was the purpose of the city of refuge? (verses 2-3)

2 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르기를 내가 모세를 통하여 너희에게 말한 도피성들을 너희를 위해 정하여

3 부지중에 실수로 사람을 죽인 자를 그리로 도망하게 하라 이는 너희를 위해 피의 보복자를 피할 곳이니라

2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, I have appointed for you the cities of refuge which I spoke to you through Moses.

3 Let him who kills someone unintentionally flee there, so that you may escape from the avenger of blood.

도피성이 세워진 목적은 부지중에 실수로 사람을 죽인 자를 피의 보복자로부터 피할 수 있도록 하기 위함입니다. The purpose for which cities of refuge were built was to enable those who accidentally kill someone without knowing it to escape from the avenger of blood.

 

2) 도피성에 들어가기 위해 용의자는 어떤 절차를 밟아야 합니까(4절)?

2) What steps must the suspect take to enter the city of refuge (v. 4)?

4 이 성읍들 중의 하나에 도피하는 자는 그 성읍에 들어가는 문 어귀에 서서 그 성읍의 장로들의 귀에 자기의 사건을 말할 것이요 그들은 그를 성읍에 받아들여 한 곳을 주어 자기들 중에 거주하게 하고

4 He who flees to one of these cities shall stand at the entrance of the gate into that city, and shall tell his case in the ears of the elders of that city, and they shall receive him into the city, and give him a place to dwell among them.

용의자 (도피하는 자)는 그 성읍(도피성)에 들어가는 문 어귀에 서서 그 성읍의 장로들의 귀에 자기의 사건을 말해야 하고 그들은 그를 성읍에 받아들여 거주하게 합니다. The suspect (the fugitive) must stand at the entrance to the gate into the city (city of refuge) and tell his case to the elders of the city, who will accept him into the city and let him reside there.

3) 도피성에서 보호를 받다가 자기 고향으로 돌아갈 수 있는 때는 언제입니까?(6절)3) When can one return to one’s hometown after receiving protection in a city of refuge? (verse 6)

6 그 살인자는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받기까지 또는 그 당시 대제사장이 죽기까지 그 성읍에 거주하다가 그 후에 그 살인자는 그 성읍 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 자기 성읍 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라 하라 하시니라

6 Then the murderer shall remain in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, or until the death of the high priest at that time. Then the murderer shall return to that city, to his own city and to his home from which he fled.”

그 살인자(용의자)는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받은 후 또는 그 당시 대제사장이 죽은 후에 자기 고향으로 돌아갈 수 있습니다.

After the murderer (suspect) has been tried before the congregation for judgment or after the death of the high priest at that time, he can return to his hometown.

 

<나눔 1> 도피성 제도는 범죄자를 위한 면죄부가 아니라 또 다른 무고한 희생을 방지하기 위한 공적 안전 제도였습니다. <Sharing 1> The city of refuge system was not an indulgence for criminals, but a public safety system to prevent other innocent victims. 오늘날 교회가 억울하게 해를 입을 위험에 처한 사람들에게 도피성이 되어 줄 방법이 무엇일지 나눠봅시다. Let’s share how the church today can serve as a refuge for those who are at risk of being wrongfully harmed.

 

지난 주에 한 여인이 교회를 찾아와서 경제적인 어려운 문제가 있다고 하여 가방을 팔아 줄 것을 부탁했습니다. Last week, a woman came to the church and asked to sell her bags because she was having financial difficulties. 이와 같이 어려운 가운데 있는 이들의 문제를 들어주고 함께 기도하며 어려움을 이겨낼 수 있도록 해야 할 것입니다. In this way, we must listen to the problems of those who are in difficult times, pray together, and help them overcome their difficulties.

 

<나눔 2> 대제사장은 하나님과 백성 사이에서 죄 문제를 중재하는 사람이었습니다. <Sharing 2> The high priest was a person who mediates the issue of sin between God and the people. 그래서 대제사장이 죽으면, 도피성으로 피한 죄인의 문제가 종결 처리되었습니다. So, when the high priest died, the problem of sinners who fled to the city of refuge was resolved. 영원한 대제사장이신 예수님의 십자가 죽음은 죄의 문제를 해결한 해방 사건입니다. The death on the cross of Jesus, the eternal high priest, is a liberation event that solves the problem of sin. 예수님 안에서 누리는 해방과 자유를 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about the liberation and freedom we enjoy in Jesus.

 

‘죄에서 자유를 얻게 함은 보혈의 능력 주의 보혈 시험을 이기는 승리되니 참 놀라운 능력이로다’라는 찬양이 있습니다. There is a hymn that says, ‘Freedom from sin is achieved through the power of the precious blood, and victory over the test of the Lord’s precious blood is truly an amazing power.’ 예수님의 보혈의 피를 믿고 의지할 때 우리에게 죄에 대하여 참된 해방과 자유를 주십니다. When we believe in and rely on the precious blood of Jesus, He gives us true liberation and freedom from sin. 지존파의 극악한 죄악을 저지른 사형수들 중 일부는 진실로 회개하며 예수님의 보혈의 피를 의지하여 참된 해방과 자유를 얻으며 사형장에 나아갔으며 천국에 갈 수 있는 은혜를 얻었습니다. Some of the condemned prisoners who committed the most heinous crimes of the Most High Sect truly repented and, relying on the precious blood of Jesus, went to the execution ground with true liberation and freedom and received the grace to go to heaven.

 

2. 도피성은 누구나, 어디서나 쉽게 접근할 수 있어야 합니다(7~9절)?

2. The city of refuge must be easily accessible to anyone, anywhere (verses 7-9)?

1) 도피성이 세워진 장소는 어디입니까?(7~8절)

1) Where was the city of refuge built? (verses 7-8)

(1) 요단 서편의 3곳(7절) (1) Three places on the west side of the Jordan (verse 7)

7 이에 그들이 납달리의 산지 갈릴리 게데스와 에브라임 산지의 세겜과 유다 산지의 기럇 아르바 곧 헤브론과

7 So they came to Kedesh in Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali, to Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and to Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.

(2) 요단 동편의 3곳(8절)(2) 3 places on the east side of Jordan (v.8)

8 여리고 동쪽 요단 저쪽 르우벤 지파 중에서 평지 광야의 베셀과 갓 지파 중에서 길르앗 라못과 므낫세 지파 중에서 바산 골란을 구별하였으니

8 From the tribe of Reuben, east of Jericho, beyond Jordan, Bezer in the wilderness of the plain; Ramoth-gilead from the tribe of Gad; and Golan of Bashan from the tribe of Manasseh.

 

2) 이스라엘 백성 외에도 누가 도피성 혜택을 받을 수 있습니까?(9절)

2) Besides the Israelites, who can benefit from cities of refuge? (verse 9)

9 이는 곧 이스라엘 모든 자손과 그들 중에 거류하는 거류민을 위하여 선정된 성읍들로서 누구든지 부지중에 살인한 자가 그리로 도망하여 그가 회중 앞에 설 때까지 피의 보복자의 손에 죽지 아니하게 하기 위함이라

9 These are the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the sojourners who live among them, so that no one who commits murder unintentionally may flee there and die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the congregation.

이스라엘 백성 외에도 그들 중에 거류하는 거류민도 도피성의 혜택을 받을 수 있습니다. In addition to the Israelites, sojourners residing among them can also benefit from the cities of refuge.

 

<나눔 3> 도피성은 어디서나 하루 안에 도착할 수 있을 정도로 가까워야 하고 누구에게나 열려 있어야 했습니다. <Sharing 3> The city of refuge had to be close enough to be reached from anywhere within a day and it had to be open to anyone. 하나님은 도피성 혜택을 이스라엘 땅에 거주하는 모든 사람에게 차별 없이 허락하셨습니다. God granted the benefits of cities of refuge to all people living in the land of Israel without discrimination. 교회가 위기에 처한 사람에게 가까이 다가가기 위해 어떤 방법을 고안할 수 있을지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about ways churches can devise ways to reach people in crisis.

 

병원과 교정(교도소) 사역 등에 관심을 가지고 주변에 어려운 가운데 있는 이들에게 주님의 사랑과 복음을 가지고 나누면 좋겠습니다. I would like to take an interest in hospital and correctional (prison) ministries and share the love and gospel of the Lord with those in need around us.

□함께 기도드려요 Let's pray together

주님, 그릇된 복수심과 과도한 죄의식을 버리고 그리스도 안에서 자유와 해방을 누리게 하소서!

Lord, help us to abandon our misguided desire for revenge and excessive sense of guilt and enjoy freedom and liberation in Christ!

그리고 저희에 죄악에 대하여 진실하게 회개하며 저희에게 잘못한 이를 용서하게 하소서!

And may we sincerely repent of our sins and forgive those who have wronged us!

그리고 위기에 처한 사람에게 가까이 다가가 예수님의 십자가 사랑으로 도우며 복음을 전하게 하소서!

And help us get closer to people in crisis, help them with the love of Jesus’ cross, and spread the gospel!
