Secret to Victory
Joshua 6:8-27
Joshua commanded the people as God commanded him. The people followed Joshua's orders and walked around the walls of Jericho once a day for six days. Then on the seventh day they walked around the walls seven times and shouted, and the strong walls of Jericho collapsed.
Joshua completely dedicates everything in the walls of Jericho to the Lord, but commands that the family of Rahab, the prostitute who saved the spies, be spared.
God gives victory to the completely obedient Israelites (20,21). The weapon that destroyed the walls of Jericho was not swords, spears, or battering rams, but only faith, obedience, and patience. We, who are engaged in a spiritual battle against Satan, must endure and persevere until the end, even though it seems impossible based on rational judgment, it seems foolish to obey, and the reality of no change is tiring and difficult. God is the one who gives shining victory to such people.
Joshua instructs the two spies to keep their oath (2:17-20). Although it is a promise made to a foreign woman, he does not take it lightly and carries out the promise. Faithfulness in keeping one's oath is no less than the faith that defeated the great city of Jericho. Have you ever put off taking responsibility for something that you think is trivial? Let's be faithful in small things first.
God, help us live a victorious life with faith, obedience, and patience in Your word, and let us keep our promises and be faithful even in small things!
