Take your sandals off your feet
Joshua 5:13 ~ 6:7
As Joshua approached Jericho, he met the commander of the Lord's army standing with a drawn sword in his hand. The commander of the Lord’s army commands Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” When Joshua obeys, the Lord tells him the strategy for the battle of Jericho.
God works through our obedience (6:1-7). The strategy for conquering Jericho (circling the city) that God instructed makes no sense in common sense, but when Israel believes and obeys, God will directly destroy Jericho. How do we respond when faced with the difficult-to-understand Word of God?
Rather than asking whether God is on my side, I must first stand on God's side (5:13-15). Just as Joshua took off his shoes, what are the unclean sins that I need to take off right away? What should I say and do today to transform the ground I walk on into a holy place?
God, help us completely obey your word! Let us cast off our unclean sins and change this land with holy words and actions!
