The miracle brought about by obedience

The miracle brought about by obedience

2 Kings 5:1-14

General Naaman is a great warrior loved by the king of Syria (Aram) and respected by the people, but he is a leper. After hearing Elisha's story from an Israeli girl who served his wife, he goes to Israel with the king's letter and gifts. The king of Israel, who received the letter, misunderstood it as a Syrian plot to invade Israel and was distressed. Elisha had his servant tell General Naaman, who came to see him, that if he washed himself seven times in the Jordan River, he would be completely healed. When General Naaman heard Elisha's words, he became angry and tried to return, but after listening to the advice of his wise subordinates, he followed Elisha's words and was completely healed.

Our socioeconomic status does not determine our level of faith. An unknown Israeli girl trusted God more than the king of Israel, and Naaman's men were wiser than Naaman. There are times when you have to listen to the words of people with authority, and there are times when you have to listen to the words of people with low status. Look at the content of the words rather than the person who said them.

We must abandon our own thoughts and obey God's commands. General Naaman tried to reject Elisha's prescription because it was different from the treatment method he thought, but after hearing the advice of his subordinates, he abandoned his thoughts and obeyed, and was healed. Do I pray that God will fulfill my plans? When you let go of your thoughts, you can discover a better path prepared by God.

Dear God, we lay down our thoughts and judgments and ask for Your help and guidance.

사랑하는 하나님, 우리의 생각과 판단을 내려놓고 주님의 도우심과 인도하심을 구합니다.
