God guides

Psalm 105:24-45

The poet confesses that God not only delivered Israel from Egypt, but also kept them safe in the wilderness. When the stubborn Egyptian king refused to let the Israelites go, God brought many plagues on Egypt. As a result, the Israelites were able to confidently leave Egypt with a lot of silver and gold. As they passed through the wilderness, God guided Israel with clouds and fire, fed them with manna and quails, and split a rock to produce water. And finally, God gave the land of Canaan as promised. God had a purpose in giving the land of Canaan. It was there that they were instructed to live according to God’s law.

God is the one who guides the way and meets every need. Although Israel needed to walk in the wilderness for 40 years, He carefully cared for and protected them throughout the wilderness period (Deuteronomy 8:2-4 Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these 40 years, to humble you and test you. 3 He humbled you and made you hungry and fed you with manna, which you did not know and your fathers did not know. Man does not live by bread alone, but from the mouth of the LORD. So that you may know that you live by every word that comes out. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.) Let us believe that the Lord will always be with us, guide us, and fill us in our journey of faith.

There is a purpose to the grace God bestows on us. The end point of the covenant is not the land of Canaan itself, but to become a people who obey God's law in that land. What grace, what kind of salvation do you expect? God saved us to do good works (Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.) We must follow the Lord's laws, obey the Lord's commands, and praise the Lord.

God, help us to obey Your word and live a life worthy of grace in the land where You sent us!
