Even if you are in bitter pain

 

Psalm 105:12-23

 

The poet praises God's plan to call Israel as a stranger and fulfill the covenant through Joseph and his turbulent life.

 

God protects his people from worldly powers (12-15). The Hebrew people were a wandering minority. However, God protected them among various powerful nations. Do we feel small and weak in front of a world that seems big and powerful? Let us move forward with confidence because God, who is stronger than the world, protects us.

 

There are hardships in the process of God fulfilling the covenant (16-18). Looking back on the process of giving the land of Canaan, God brought about a famine and pushed Joseph into suffering for no apparent reason. Are you in bitter pain? That too can be the process of God fulfilling his promise.

 

God who is stronger than the world, let us be bold and trust in God who protects us! Even though we are in the midst of bitter pain, let us live as travelers heading toward our eternal home, believing that this is also the process of God fulfilling His promise!
