The Greatest Blessing

 

Psalm 119:1-16

 

The greatest blessing is for those who seek God with all their heart and live righteously according to His Word. Psalm 119 is the longest psalm in the Bible. The poet sings of how precious and beautiful the Word of God is. Those who are blessed in God’s eyes are not those who are filled with earthly things, but those who are filled with the Word of God. They live uprightly according to the Word without bias. The path that God’s people must walk is ultimately the path of the Word, and the path of putting the Word in their mouths, embracing it in their hearts, and obeying it through their actions is the path of the greatest blessing.

 

The word is necessary for everyone, but especially for the young, to show them the right direction of life and to keep them from being led astray by the passion of their youth (9,11). The voice of desire is a trap that drowns life in a swamp, but the word of the Lord will be a sail that helps them navigate their way through life. What word are we listening to now?

 

God, let us enjoy Your word and meditate on it day and night, so that we may discern and obey Your good, pleasing, and perfect will and live the most blessed life!
