In front of a crisis

 

[Psalm 108:1~13]

 

Faced with an emergency situation, the poet decides to praise God first. The poet's situation is chaotic, but even in the midst of it all, he longs for God's fame to spread throughout the earth and rise higher than the sky. Next, the poet asks God for salvation, because his army lost the war against Edom. The cause of defeat was the absence of God. The poet confesses that salvation does not lie in man, but only in God, and sings with confidence that God will give him victory.

 

The poet decides to exalt and praise God among all people and nations (3-5). Although the nations of the world exalt themselves and boast, God will stand in heaven and mock them. If I only look at myself and think only about my greed, the deep and long night will never end. But if you trust in God and sing of His goodness, the dawn will soon come.

 

When life is at stake, we must rely on God, not on people (12-13). Human help may seem more tangible and practical, but it is not. Only with God's help can salvation and victory be clearer and more concrete. Let us not look back on people every time a crisis arises. Let us become people of God who rely more desperately on God and seek help.

 

No matter what problem we face, help us rely on God’s help and live a life that praises only God.
