Praise God, our strength!
Psalm 81:1-16
The poet joyfully praises God, who is our strength, with all kinds of musical instruments, and appeals to the people of Israel to thank God for his salvation in Egypt by keeping the festivals. God says “I have removed the burden from your shoulders and have saved you. You must not have any other gods among you. Open your mouth wide! I will fill it. But my people do not listen to me, they do as they please! Hear my words, my people. I will destroy your enemies and fill you with the best.”
God is the One who took the burden off our shoulders and saved us. Let's praise God, our strength, with all kinds of musical instruments, and give thanks for the grace that God has given us by keeping the feasts.
Let's God's people repent of our disobedience to God's Word and do what we want, and let's listen to God's Word, relying on God to defeat our enemies and fill us with the best things.
God who is our strength, we praise the God who saved us and lifted the burden from our shoulders with all kinds of musical instruments. We repent of our disobedience to God's Word, repent of what we do as we please, and rely only on God who will listen to God's Word to defeat our enemies and fill us with the best.
