Deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake!
Psalm 79:1-13
The psalmist confesses the unfortunate situation in which the nations have entered the Lord's inheritance, defiled the Lord's temple and turned Jerusalem into rubble, and that the corpses of the Lord's servants are delivered to birds and wild animals and ridiculed without anyone to bury them. And the psalmist asks God to deliver us and forgive our sins for the sake of God’s name. Also, the poet asks that the sins of those who blasphemed the Lord be paid back sevenfold. And if God do so, he will forever thank God and deliver God’s glory from generation to generation.
God makes even God's people suffer if they commit sin. At this time, you must repent of your sins, seek God's mercy, forgive your sins for God's name, and seek revenge. So let us thank God for responding to our prayers and be a faithful people of God who conveys the glory of the Lord from generation to generation.
O God, let us be the faithful people of God who answer our prayers for forgiving our sins and avenging them and restoring them for your name, and let us be the faithful people of God who deliver your glory to generations!
