First Judge Othniel
Judges 3:1-11
God was very angry with the people of Israel who forsook Him and served Baal and Asherah, and gave them over to the Mesopotamian king Gusanrisadaim to serve for 8 years.
In order to rescue the children of Israel who cried out to him, God appointed Othniel, a judge, to defeat Kusanrisadaim and give him peace for 40 years.
God constantly trains His people to reach true holiness. Let's not forget that the realities of never-ending trials and thorns are God's hand that leads us to a relationship of true faith and love, which allows us to look at our relationship with God anew and broaden the horizon of understanding God.
God saves Israel through Othniel. He transformed the land that had lost hope because of sin, into a land of hope where life sprouts through the savior (judge) Othniel he established. Our souls also found peace and rest through the saving work of Jesus, who was filled with the Spirit of God. Is this peace and rest within us?
Lord, help us to strive with all our might to obey Your word, never forgetting that obedience is the only way to gain victory in spiritual battle.
