인간관계의 단절이나, 결혼, 퇴직, 이사, 이직과 같은 새로운 상황은 큰 스트레스를 유발합니다. New situations such as a break in a relationship, marriage, retirement, moving, or changing jobs cause great stress. 이스라엘 백성도 극도의 긴장 상황에 놓여 있습니다. The people of Israel are also in a state of extreme tension. 지금까지 이스라엘 백성을 이끌어온 지도자 모세가 죽고, 이제는 다른 민족이 터전을 잡고 있는 가나안 땅으로 들어가야 하기 때문입니다. This is because Moses, the leader who led the Israelites until now, has died, and they must now enter the land of Canaan, where another nation has established its home. 두렵고 불안한 상황입니다. It is a scary and anxious situation. 특히 새로운 지도자로 세워진 여호수아는 ‘과연 내가 이 일을 해낼 수 있을까?’ 하는 두려움에 사로잡혀 있을 것입니다. In particular, Joshua, who was appointed as the new leader, must be obsessed with fear, wondering, ‘Will I really be able to accomplish this?’ 그때 하나님이 여호수아와 이스라엘 백성들에게 필요한 말씀을 주십니다.

At that time, God gives Joshua and the Israelites the words they need.

 

□말씀과 나눔 Words and Sharing

1. 하나님은 이스라엘 백성을 약속의 땅으로 들여보내려 하십니다(1~4절).

1. God wants to send the Israelites into the promised land (verses 1-4).

1) 하나님은 언제, 어디서 말씀하십니까(1~2절)? 1) When and where does God speak (verses 1-2)?

1 여호와의 종 모세가 죽은 후에 여호와께서 모세의 수종자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되

2 내 종 모세가 죽었으니 이제 너는 이 모든 백성과 더불어 일어나 이 요단을 건너 내가 그들 곧 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 그 땅으로 가라

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' attendant, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now arise, you and all this people, and go across this Jordan to the land which I am giving them, even to the children of Israel.

 

하나님은 모세가 죽은 후에 요단강 앞에서 말씀하십니다.

After Moses died, God spoke in front of the Jordan River.

2) 하나님은 이스라엘 백성에게 땅을 주시기 위해 누구에게 말씀하십니까(1절)? 2) To whom does God speak to give the land to the Israelites (verse 1)?

1 여호와의 종 모세가 죽은 후에 여호와께서 모세의 수종자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' attendant, saying,

하나님은 모세의 수종자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하십니다.

God speaks to Joshua, son of Nun, Moses' attendant.

 

<나눔 1> 모세의 죽음으로 인해 이스라엘 백성은 새로운 국면을 맞이했습니다. <Sharing 1> With the death of Moses, the Israelites were facing a new situation. 새로운 지도자인 여호수아는 이스라엘이 땅을 차지할 수 있도록 자신에게 맡겨진 역할을 감당해야 했습니다. Joshua, the new leader, had to fulfill his role in helping Israel take possession of the land. 새해에 가정이나 일터, 혹은 교회에서 새롭게 맡거나, 계속 해야 할 역할은 무엇인지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about what new roles you will take on or continue to play in the new year at home, work, or church.

 

먼저 나와 나의 아내는 가족과 친척들의 온전한 구원과 하나님의 말씀을 사모하도록 기도하며 자녀들을 노엽게 하지말고 주의 교양과 훈계로 잘 양육하고 가르쳐야 합니다. First, my wife and I pray for the complete salvation of our family and relatives and for their desire for the word of God. We must not irritate our children, but we must raise and teach them well with the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

그리고 샛별교회와 MIC선교회를 잘 이끌어 갈 수 있도록 기도하며 교회사역과 주일학교 사역과 병원사역과 교정사역 그리고 외국인 사역 등을 가족과 성도들과 온 선교사들과 함께 잘 감당하도록 기도하며 바울과 디모데처럼 충성되어 잘 감당해야 합니다.

And I pray that I can lead the Morning Star Church and MIC Mission well, and that I can handle the church ministry, Sunday school ministry, hospital ministry, correctional ministry, and foreign ministry together with my family, believers, and missionaries, like Paul and Timothy. You must be faithful and handle it well.

 

2. 하나님은 여호수아에게 명령하고 약속하고 요구하십니다(5~9절).

2. God commands, promises, and demands Joshua (verses 5-9).

1) 하나님이 여호수아에게 세 번 반복하신 명령은 무엇입니까(6,7,9절)

1) What command did God repeat to Joshua three times (verses 6, 7, 9)?

6 강하고 담대하라 너는 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주리라 한 땅을 이 백성에게 차지하게 하리라

7 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라 그리하면 어디로 가든지 형통하리니

9 내가 네게 명령한 것이 아니냐 강하고 담대하라 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께 하느니라 하시니라

6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.7Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

 

하나님께서는 여호수아에게 “강하고 담대하라”고 세 번 명령하십니다.

God commands Joshua three times to “Be strong and courageous.”

 

2) 하나님이 여호수아에게 두 번 반복하신 약속은 무엇입니까(5,9절)?

2) What is the promise that God repeated twice to Joshua (verses 5, 9)?

5 네 평생에 너를 능히 대적할 자가 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께 있었던 것 같이 너와 함께 있을 것임이니라 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니

9 내가 네게 명령한 것이 아니냐 강하고 담대하라 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께 하느니라 하시니라

5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life; just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

하나님은 여호수아에게 “내가 너를 떠나지 아니하리라. 내가 너와 함께 하리라”고 두 번 반복하여 약속하십니다.

God said to Joshua, “I will not leave you. I will be with you,” he promises twice.

 

3) 하나님이 여호수아에게 요구하신 것은 무엇입니까(7~8절)?

3) What did God require of Joshua (verses 7-8)?

7 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라 그리하면 어디로 가든지 형통하리니

8 이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 주야로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜 행하라 그리하면 네 길이 평탄하게 될 것이며 네가 형통하리라

 

하나님은 여호수아에게 “이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 주야로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜 행하라”고 요구하십니다.

God asks Joshua, “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.”

<나눔 2> 여호수아에게는 자신이 이스라엘의 영적 지도자로 또는 가나안 땅을 차지할 군사적 지도자로 적합하지 않다는 막연한 두려움이 있었을 것입니다. <Sharing 2> Joshua must have had a vague fear that he was not suitable as a spiritual leader of Israel or a military leader to occupy the land of Canaan.

내가 맡은 역할이나 직분에 대한 두려움이 있습니까? Do you have fears about your role or position? 있다면 그 이유가 무엇인지 이야기해봅시다. If so, let's talk about the reason.

 

<나눔 3> 하나님은 여호수아가 두려움을 이겨낼 수 있도록 율법을 묵상하고 지켜 행하라고 명령하십니다. <Sharing 3> God commands Joshua to meditate on the law and keep it so that he can overcome his fear. 말씀을 통해 날마다 힘과 용기를 주시려는 뜻입니다. The intention is to give him strength and courage every day through the Word. 말씀을 통해 두려움을 딛고 일어선 경험을 나눠봅시다. Let’s share our experience of overcoming fear through the Word.

 

외국인 근로자 사역 중 한 기숙사에 개 줄에 묶여 있지 않은 큰 개에게 한 번 물린 적이 있는데 매주 기숙사를 갈 때는 약간의 두려움이 있습니다. I was once bitten by a large dog that was not on a leash in one of the dormitories during the foreign worker ministry, and I have a bit of fear when I go to the dormitory every week. 그때마다 “강하고 담대하라 내가 너와 함께 하리라”는 하나님의 말씀을 되내이며 담대하고 나아가서 짖어대는 개를 물리치고 기숙사에 들어가 기숙사에 있는 캄보디아와 태국의 형제들과 함께 찬양을 드리고 성경공부를 합니다.

Every time, I repeat the words of God, “Be strong and courageous, I will be with you,” and go forward with courage, fending off the barking dog, entering the dormitory, and singing praises and studying the Bible with the Cambodian and Thai brothers in the dormitory.

Let's pray together

주님, 시시때때로 다가오는 두려움을 말씀으로 이겨내게 하소서!

Lord, help us overcome the fear that comes from time to time through Your Word!

 

새해에 저희의 가정, 일터, 그리고 교회에서 맡겨진 역할을 충성되이 잘 감당하게 하소서!

In the new year, please help us faithfully fulfill the roles entrusted to us at home, work, and church!

 

나라와 열방의 평안을 지켜주시고 하나님을 경외하고 백성을 사랑하는 지도자를 세워주소서!

Please protect the peace of the country and all the nations and raise up leaders who fear God and love the people!

 

온 열방에 나가있는 선교사들과 현지 일꾼들이 협력하여 주님 주신 사명을 잘 감당하게 하소서!

May missionaries and local workers in all countries cooperate to carry out the mission given by the Lord!
