하나님이 보이지 않기에 사람들은 하나님의 백성을 보며 하나님의 존재 여부를 가늠합니다. Since God is invisible, people look to God's people to gauge His existence. 그래서 우리가 어려운 일을 만나고 고통을 겪을 때, 그들은 하나님의 존재를 부정하며 눈에 보이는 것과 손에 잡히는 것을 믿으라고 훈수합니다. So when we face difficulties and suffer, they teach us to deny the existence of God and to believe in what we see and what we can touch. 하나님을 보여줄 방법이 도무지 없을 것 같지만, 우리에겐 하나님의 존재를 나타낼 수 있는 방법이 있습니다. Although it may seem like there is no way to show God, there is a way for us to demonstrate His existence. 믿음의 눈으로 하나님을 보고 있는 우리의 반응입니다. This is our response as we look at God with the eyes of faith. 고난 중에 하나님을 의지하고, 고통 속에서도 하나님의 복을 누리며, 상황을 뛰어넘어 하나님을 찬양할 때 우리를 통해 하나님이 선전됩니다. When we rely on God in our suffering, enjoy God's blessings in our pain, and praise God beyond our circumstances, God is proclaimed through us.

 

□말씀과 나눔 Words and Sharing

1. 이방 민족은 보이지 않는 여호와를 조롱하지만, 시인은 보이는 우상의 헛됨을 폭로합니다(1~8절). 1. While the Gentiles mock the invisible Jehovah, the poet exposes the vanity of visible idols (vv. 1-8).

1) 이방 민족이 이스라엘 백성을 조롱하며 하는 말은 무엇입니까?(2절)

1) What do the Gentiles say when they mock the Israelites? (Verse 2)

2 어찌하여 뭇 나라가 그들의 하나님이 이제 어디 있느냐 말하게 하리이까

2 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”

이방 민족이 하는 말은 “그들의 하나님이 이제 어디 있느냐”라고 이스라엘 백성을 조롱합니다. The Gentiles mock the Israelites by saying, “Where is their God?”

2) 시인은 이방 민족의 질문에 무엇이라고 대답합니까(3절)?

2) How does the poet answer the question of the foreign people (verse 3)?

3 오직 우리 하나님은 하늘에 계셔서 원하시는 모든 것을 행하셨나이다

3 But our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases.

시인은 “오직 우리 하나님은 하늘에 계셔서 원하시는 모든 것을 행하셨다”고 이방 민족에 대답합니다. The poet answers the Gentiles by saying, “Our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases.”

3) 시인이 폭로하는 우상의 실상은 무엇입니까?(4~8절)

3) What is the reality of the idol that the poet exposes? (verses 4-8)

4 그들의 우상들은 은과 금이요 사람이 손으로 만든 것이라

5 입이 있어도 말하지 못하며 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며

6 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하며 코가 있어도 냄새 맡지 못하며

7 손이 있어도 만지지 못하며 발이 있어도 걷지 못하며 목구멍이 있어도 작은 소리조차 내지 못하느니라

8 우상들을 만드는 자들과 그것을 의지하는 자들이 다 그와 같으리로다

4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands.

5 They have mouths, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see;

6 They have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell;

7 They have hands, but they cannot feel; they have feet, but they cannot walk; they have throats, but they cannot utter a single sound.

8 So are those who make them and all who trust in them.

 

그들의 우상들은 사람이 손으로 만든 것일 뿐이며 입이 있어도 말하지 못하며 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하며 코가 있어도 냄새 맡지 못하며 손이 있어도 만지지 못하며 발이 있어도 걷지 못하며 목구멍이 있어도 작은 소리조차 내지 못한다고 시인은 우상의 실상을 폭로하며 우상들을 만드는 자들과 그것을 의지하는 자들이 다 그와 같다고 말합니다.

Their idols are nothing more than the work of human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear, noses but cannot smell, hands but cannot feel, feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot utter a single sound. The psalmist exposes the true nature of idols and says that those who make idols and those who rely on them are all the same.

 

<나눔 1> 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람들이 “하나님이 살아계시면 어째서 하나님의 백성이 그렇게 많은 고난을 겪느냐?” 하며 조롱할 때가 있습니다. <Sharing 1> There are times when people who do not believe in God mock, saying, “If God exists, why do God’s people suffer so much?” 누군가 내게 물어본다면, 나는 어떻게 대답하겠습니까? If someone asked me, how would I answer?

 

(1) 사람은 과오를 범하기 쉽다.(1) People are prone to making mistakes. 그러므로 교정받기 위해 사람에게는 고난이 필요하다. Therefore, suffering is necessary for people to be corrected.

(2) 다른 사람을 위로하려면 고난이 필요하다. (2) Suffering is necessary to comfort others. 왜냐하면 고난을 겪어 본 사람만이 고난당하고 있는 다른 사람을 참으로 위로하여 도울 수 있기 때문이다. Because only those who have suffered can truly comfort and help others who are suffering.

(3) 로마서 5장에서는 “환난이 인내를 낳는다”(롬 5:3)고 말한다.(3) Romans 5 says, “tribulation produces patience” (Romans 5:3). 그러므로 우리가 인내를 배우려면 고난을 통해 단련 받는 과정은 필수적이다. Therefore, if we are to learn patience, the process of being trained through suffering is essential.

(4) 우리가 하나님께 유용한 그릇으로 빚어지려면 필연적으로 고난을 거쳐야 한다. (4) If we are to be made into useful vessels for God, we must inevitably go through suffering.

 

2. 시인은 하나님만 의지하고 하나님을 영원히 찬양해야 할 이유를 노래합니다(9~18절). 2. The poet sings of the reasons why he must rely only on God and praise Him forever (verses 9-18).

1) 시인이 이스라엘 백성에게 거듭 강조한 것은 무엇입니까?(9~11절)

1) What did the poet repeatedly emphasize to the people of Israel? (verses 9-11)

9 이스라엘아 여호와를 의지하라 그는 너희의 도움이시요 너희의 방패시로다

10 아론의 집이여 여호와를 의지하라 그는 너희의 도움이시요 너희의 방패시로다

11 여호와를 경외하는 자들아 너희는 여호와를 의지하여라 그는 너희의 도움이시요 너희의 방패시로다

9 Trust in the LORD, O Israel; he is their help and their shield.

10 Trust in the LORD, O house of Aaron; he is their help and their shield.

11 You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; he is their help and their shield.

시인은 이스라엘 백성에게 3번이나 “여호와를 의지하라 그는 너희의 도움이시요 너희의 방패시로다”라고 거듭 강조합니다.

The poet repeatedly emphasizes to the people of Israel three times, “Trust in the Lord; he is their help and their shield.”

2) 시인은 하나님과 이스라엘 백성의 관계를 어떻게 설명합니까?(12~15절) 2) How does the poet describe the relationship between God and the people of Israel? (vv. 12-15)

12 여호와께서 우리를 생각하사 복을 주시되 이스라엘 집에도 복을 주시고 아론의 집에도 복을 주시며

13 높은 사람이나 낮은 사람을 막론하고 여호와를 경외하는 자들에게 복을 주시리로다

14 여호와께서 너희를 곧 너희와 너희의 자손을 더욱 번창하게 하시기를 원하노라

15 너희는 천지를 지으신 여호와께 복을 받는 자로다

12 The LORD remembers us and blesses us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the LORD, both the small and the great. 14 May the LORD make you many, you and your children after you. 15 You are blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성에게 복을 주시고 이스라엘 백성은 천지를 지으신 하나님께 복을 받는 자라고 시인은 설명합니다.

The psalmist explains that God blesses the people of Israel, and that the people of Israel are blessed by God, the creator of heaven and earth.

 

3) 시인이 확신하는 것은 무엇입니까(17~18절)?

3) What is the poet sure of (verses 17-18)?

17 죽은 자들은 여호와를 찬양하지 못하나니 적막한 데로 내려가는 자들은 아무도 찬양하지 못하리로다

18 우리는 이제부터 영원까지 여호와를 송축하리로다 할렐루야

17 The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into silence. 18 We will bless the LORD from this time forth and forevermore. Hallelujah.

죽은 자들은 여호와를 찬양하지 못하나니 적막한 데로 내려가는 자들은 아무도 찬양하지 못할 것이다. 그러나 우리는 이제부터 영원까지 여호와를 송축할 것이라고 시인은 확신합니다. The dead do not praise the Lord, nor do those who go down into silence. But we will bless the Lord from now on and forevermore, the psalmist is confident.

 

<나눔 2> 하나님은 당신을 의지하는 백성에게 복을 주십니다. <Sharing 2> God blesses the people who rely on Him. 신분이 높든 낮든, 부유하든 가난하든 하나님을 의지하는 자에게 도움과 방패가 되십니다. He is a help and shield to those who rely on Him, whether they are high or low, rich or poor. 나는 어떠한 상황에서 하나님을 의지하고 있는지, 하나님을 의지하면서 어떤 복을 받아 누리고 있는지 이야기해봅시다. Let's talk about the situations in which I rely on God and the blessings I receive and enjoy by relying on God.

외국인 사역 중 한 기숙사에 묶여져 있지 않은 큰 개를 대할 때 하나님을 의지하고 있습니다. I am relying on God when dealing with a large dog that is not tied up in a dormitory during my foreign ministry. 하나님을 의지하면서 외국인 근로자들과 함께 성경공부하며 찬양하는 복을 누리고 있습니다. I am blessed to study the Bible and praise God together with foreign workers while relying on Him.

<나눔 3> 찬양은 생명의 표지입니다. <Sharing 3> Praise is a sign of life. 하나님을 찬양하는 사람은 영원한 생명을 누립니다. Those who praise God will enjoy eternal life. 요즘 나는 어떤 고백으로, 어떤 방식으로 하나님을 찬양하는지 나눠봅시다. Let me share with you what kind of confession and method I use to praise God these days.

“왕이신 나의 하나님”과 “아버지 사랑합니다.”라는 찬양을 통해 왕이신 나의 하나님 아버지를 함께 찬양합니다.

We praise our Heavenly Father, our King, together through the hymns “My God, the King” and “I love you, Father.”

 

□함께 기도드려요 Let's pray together

주님, 세상의 모욕과 조롱에 낙담하지 않고 하늘에 계신 하나님을 더욱 의지하도록 도와주세요.

Lord, help me not to be discouraged by the insult and mockery of the world, but to rely on God in Heaven all the more.

그리고 왕이신 나의 하나님 아버지를 함께 항상 찬양하게 하소서!

And let us always praise our Heavenly Father, our King!
