Ashes of the Red Heifer

 

Numbers 19:1-10

 

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, Eleazar the priest slaughtered a red heifer that was perfect and without blemish and had not yet been yoked, and sprinkled its blood seven times in front of the Tent of Meeting and had the heifer burned. And he said to collect the ashes of the heifer and keep them for the congregation of the Israelites and keep them for the water to wash away the uncleanness.

 

In order to cleanse the Israelites of their uncleanness, God kills a red heifer, sprinkles its blood, and collects the ashes of the heifer to keep. Jesus became the sacrifice for us on the cross and became the perfect atonement. Let us lean on the blood of Jesus, confess our sins, and move forward to God. Let us now become the holy people of God who overcome sin.

 

A red heifer was offered as a sacrifice and the ashes were collected, but Eleazar the priest and several others became unclean and had to wash their clothes and purify themselves. Let us give thanks for the grace of the Lord who endured the suffering of the cross to atone for our sins. And let's do our best to purify ourselves, our families, our neighbors, our nation, and all the nations from their sins.

 

God, give thanks for the grace of bearing our sins with the blood of Jesus, which is more perfect than that of a red heifer, confess our sins, and help us become more holy God's people! Like Eleazar the priest, let us take the hard work of purifying ourselves, our families, our neighbors, our nations, and all the nations!
