Seek the favor of the Lord rather than the ark of the covenant!

Seek the favor of the Lord rather than the ark of the covenant!

2 Samuel 15:24-37

On David's escape route, the priests Zadok and Abiathar brought the ark of the covenant with the Levites, but King David returned them and the ark of the covenant and said that if the Lord would show him favor, he would be able to see the ark again. And when King David hears that Ahithophel is with him in Absalom's rebellion, he prays that the Lord will make Ahithophel's plans foolish. When King David reaches the ridge of worship of the Lord, Hushai tries to follow David, but King David sends him to Absalom and orders him to defeat Ahithophel's plot.

King David relied on the Lord rather than the ark of the covenant. So he returns the ark of the covenant and confesses that he will be able to see the ark again if the Lord shows him favor. We too should seek God's grace rather than seeking our own benefit through faith.

King David prays that Jehovah will make Ahithophel's scheme foolish, and then sends Hushai to defeat Ahithophel's scheme. We should not just pray, but do the best we can after praying.

God, we want to live our lives seeking your grace rather than seeking our benefit through faith. And after prayer, let us do the best we can!
