지난 주에 어떻게 보냈나요? How did you spend last week?

 

경건해 보이도록 자신을 그럴싸하게 포장하여 사람들의 존경과 환심을 사지만, 실상은 가식과 위선으로 가득 찬 사람들이 있습니다. There are people who present themselves as pious and gain people's respect and favor, but in reality, they are full of pretense and hypocrisy. 서기관들이 그러했습니다. 그들은 이스라엘의 성경 교사를 자처했지만, 성경에 나타난 그리스도를 제대로 이해하지도, 가르치지도 못했습니다. The scribes did that. They claimed to be Israel's Bible teachers, but they did not properly understand or teach Christ as revealed in the Bible. 그러면서도 그들은 대접받기를 좋아하고, 사람들이 보는 데서 길게 기도함으로 자신을 포장했습니다. Nevertheless, they liked to be treated well, and they decorated themselves by praying at length in public view. 그러나 예수님은 그들의 실체를 꿰뚫어 보시고 그들의 과시에 속지 않으십니다. However, Jesus sees through their true nature and is not deceived by their display.

 

□말씀과 나눔 Words and Sharing

1. 예수님은 서기관들의 부족한 가르침을 보완하십니다(35~37절).

1. Jesus complements the scribes’ insufficient teachings (verses 35-37).

1) 서기관들은 그리스도에 대해 무엇이라 말했습니까?(35절)

1) What did the scribes say about Christ? (verse 35)

예수께서 성전에서 가르치실쌔 대답하여 가라사대 어찌하여 서기관들이 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라 하느뇨

Jesus answered and said, while he was teaching in the temple, “Why do the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?”

서기관들이 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라 말했습니다.

The scribes said that Christ was the son of David.

2) 다윗은 시편에서 그리스도를 무엇이라 부릅니까(36~37절)?

다윗이 성령에 감동하여 친히 말하되 주께서 내 주께 이르시되 내가 네 원수를 네 발 아래 둘 때까지 내 우편에 앉았으라 하셨도다 하였느니라 다윗이 그리스도를 주라 하였은즉 어찌 그의 자손이 되겠느냐 하시더라 백성이 즐겁게 듣더라 David himself was moved by the Holy Spirit and said, “The Lord has said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.’” David said, “If you have called Christ Lord, how can you be his descendant?” The people rejoiced.

다윗은 시편에서 그리스도를 내 주라고 부릅니다. David calls Christ my Lord in the Psalms.

 

<나눔 1> 예수님은 서기관들로 인해 ‘민족의 해방자’로 축소된 그리스도 상을 ‘인류의 구원자’로 복구하셨습니다. <Sharing 1> Jesus restored the image of Christ, which had been reduced to ‘the liberator of the people’ by the scribes, to ‘the savior of mankind.’ 주님과 말씀에 대한 왜곡되고 편협한 이해가 온전해지고 풍성해진 경험을 나눠봅시다. Let’s share our experience of becoming whole and enriched from our distorted and narrow understanding of the Lord and His Word.

 

무슬림들은 예수님을 선지자 중의 한 사람으로 알고 있고 성경이 많이 고쳐졌다고 알고 있는 데 그들이 예수님은 그리스도이시며 살아계신 하나님의 아들이라고 고백하고 성경은 정확(正確)한 하나님의 말씀임을 믿도록 기도드려요.

Muslims know Jesus as one of the prophets and that the Bible has been modified many times. I pray that they will confess that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of the living God and believe that the Bible is the accurate word of God.

 

2. 예수님은 스스로 높이는 서기관을 경계하시고, 가난한 과부의 헌금을 칭찬하십니다(38~44절)

1) 서기관들이 원하는 것은 무엇입니까?(38~39절)

예수께서 가르치실 때에 가라사대 긴 옷을 입고 다니는 것과 시장에서 문안 받는 것과 회당의 상좌와 잔치의 상석을 원하는 서기관들을 삼가라

While Jesus was teaching, he said, “Beware of the scribes who go about in long robes, who want to be greeted in the marketplace, and who want to have the highest seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.

서기관들은 긴 옷을 입고 다니는 것과 시장에서 문안받는 것과 회당의 상좌와 잔치의 상석을 원합니다. The scribes want to wear long robes, be greeted in the marketplace, have the highest seats in synagogues, and be the best at banquets.

 

2) 서기관들이 받는 판결이 더욱 중한 이유는 무엇입니까?(40절)

2) Why are the judgments given to the scribes more severe?(v.40)

저희는 과부의 가산(家産)을 삼키며 외식으로 길게 기도하는 자니 그 받는 판결이 더욱 중(重)하리라 하시니라

For they are the ones who devour widows' wealth and make long prayers with hypocrisy, so their judgment will be even more severe.

그들은 과부의 가산(家産)을 삼키며 외식으로 길게 기도하므로 판결이 더욱 중(重)합니다. The judgment is even more severe because they devour the widow's family property and pray for a long time in hypocrisy.

3) 예수님이 가난한 과부의 헌금을 칭찬하신 이유는 무엇입니까?(43~44절)

3) Why did Jesus praise the poor widow’s donations? (verses 43-44)

예수께서 제자들을 불러다가 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이 가난한 과부는 연보 궤에 넣는 모든 사람보다 많이 넣었도다 저희는 다 그 풍족한 중에서 넣었거니와 이 과부는 그 구차한 중에서 자기 모든 소유 곧 생활비 전부를 넣었느니라 하셨더라

Jesus called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who have put into the treasury. They all have put in out of their abundance, but this widow out of her poverty has put in all that she had, all she had to live on.”

 

가난한 과부는 구차한 중에서 자기 모든 소유 곧 생활비 전부를 드렸으므로

The poor widow, out of her poverty, gave all she had, all she had to live on.

 

<나눔 2> 예수님은 자신들의 신분과 경건의 모양을 과시하기 좋아했던 서기관들을 경계하라고 말씀하셨습니다. <Sharing 2> Jesus told us to be wary of the scribes who liked to show off their status and piety. 사람들이 자신을 과시하기 좋아하는 이유는 무엇일까요? Why do people like to show off? 신앙인으로서 그런 마음을 어떻게 이겨낼 수 있을지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about how we can overcome such feelings as believers.

 

자신을 과시하기 좋아하는 이유는 교만하기 때문입니다. 겸손한 마음을 가짐으로 이러한 마음을 이겨낼 수 있습니다.

The reason they like to show off is because they are arrogant. You can overcome these feelings by having a humble heart.

 

<나눔 3> 과부는 가난한 중에도 하나님께 자신을 온전히 드리기를 원했습니다. <Sharing 3> Even though she was poor, the widow wanted to give herself completely to God. 이는 단순히 헌금의 문제가 아니라, 헌신(獻身)의 문제입니다. This is not simply a matter of donations, but a matter of dedication. ‘나의 헌신’은 어떻게 구체화되고 있는지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about how ‘my dedication’ is being concreted.

 

파키스탄 벽돌 공장에서 노동자가 하루 12시간 일하더라도 1,000루피(5,000원) 정도 밖에 못 받는 상황이지만, 주님의 은혜를 기억하고 헌금을 드릴 때 주님께서 칭찬해 주실 것입니다.

Even if a worker at a Pakistani brick factory works 12 hours a day, he or she only receives about 1,000 rupees (5,000 won). However, if you remember the grace of the Lord and make an offering, the Lord will praise you.

 

저도 작년 연간 소득이 2,901,200원인데 하루로 계산한다면 하루 일당이 8,000원(6 달러)정도 됩니다. 주님의 은혜를 기억하고 날마다 일용할 양식을 주신 것에 감사하며 즐거이 헌신하는 삶을 계속해 나가길 소망합니다.

My annual income last year was 2,901,200 won, but if calculated per day, my daily wage would be about 8,000 won (6 dollars). I hope to remember the Lord's grace, be thankful for giving me daily bread, and continue to live a joyful, dedicated life.

주님, 과시하려는 마음을 내려놓고 겸손히 주님을 섬기게 하소서!

Lord, help me to let go of my desire to show off and serve you humbly!
