The King of Life

The King of Life

Mark 5:21~34

Praise and Sharing

I bless You, my God and my King

God Will Make a Way for us

How was your last week?

Jesus hears the synagogue leader Jairus' plea to “Please, save my daughter” and goes to his house. On the way, Jesus meets a woman who has suffered from a hemorrhage(discharge of blood) disease for twelve years. This woman touches the hem of Jesus’ clothes with the belief that ‘I can be healed just by touching Jesus’ clothes.’ At the time, it was very unclean to come into contact with a patient suffering from hemorrhage, but Jesus did not mind such tradition and treated the woman with compassion.

□Words and sharing

1. Jairus comes to Jesus to save his dying daughter. (verses 21-24)

1) What is the social status of Jairus, who fell at Jesus’ feet? (verse 22)

One of the synagogue officials named Jairus came up, and on seeing Him, fell at His feet

Jairus was a synagogue leader.

2) What does Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, ask Jesus for? (verse 23)

and implored Him earnestly, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live."

Jairus, the synagogue leader, asks Jesus to save his dying daughter.

<Sharing 1> Jairus puts down his position as a synagogue leader and kneels before Jesus. He humbly asks Jesus to save his daughter. Have you ever hesitated in asking for prayer because of your position? If you have a prayer topic you are earnestly seeking from the Lord right now, let’s share it with each other.

Please pray for complete healing of my neck and thyroid function and to send faithful workers to our church.

And please help resolve the financial problems of the family and church, as well as the health and future career of my two sons.

2. The woman with the hemorrhage musters up courage and holds on to the hem of Jesus’ clothes (verses 25-34)

1) What suffering did the woman undergo for twelve years? (verses 25-26)

A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse--

She visited many doctors for 12 years, but could not get treatment, so she wasted everything she had and her illness became more serious.

2) Why did the woman with the hemorrhage touch Jesus’ clothes? (verses 27-28)

after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.

For she thought, "If I just touch His garments, I will get well."

She thought she would be healed (saved) just by touching Jesus' clothes.

3) When the woman is trembling and afraid of the fact that she was cured after touching Jesus' clothes, how does Jesus comfort her (verses 32-34)?

And He looked around to see the woman who had done this.

But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.

And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction."

Jesus comforted her by saying, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace, be free from your illness, and be in good health.”

<Sharing 2> A woman who suffered from hemorrhage for twelve years spent all her money on treatment, but to no avail. She finally acknowledges her limitations and holds on to the hem of Jesus' garment with faith. Let's share with each other what we hold on to and find a way out when faced with a limiting situation.

There is a local Pakistani family asking for help with financial loan issues and health issues.

When I have financial difficulties, I sometimes think, ‘Should I make money by doing worldly work?’

When we face limitations, we must seek the help of Almighty God rather than relying on worldly help.

When we experience various difficulties, such as financial problems and disease problems, we must rely only on the Lord, who helps us more than anything else in the world.

Let's pray together

Lord, help us not to be concerned about keeping up appearances, but to rely on You with utter humility.

When we encounter financial problems, illness, etc., help us to trust and rely solely on You
