Now it will turn around

Now it will turn around

1 Kings 1:38-53

According to David's order, Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah took the men down and placed Solomon on David's mule and went to Gihon. Zadok the priest anointed Solomon, and all the people shouted loudly, 'Long live King Solomon!' When Adonijah heard this news, everyone who was with him was frightened and went their separate ways. Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, so he grabbed the horns of the altar and asked Solomon not to kill him. Solomon tells him that if he proves faithful he will live, but if he does evil he will die and sends him home.

Just as Solomon rode David's mule to Gihon, was anointed king, and all the people shouted loudly, "Long live King Solomon," Jesus humbled himself and rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, and all the people of Jerusalem cried out, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" “Hosanna in the highest, he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Jesus is the King of kings who came as a descendant of David and the humble King who loved us even to the point of dying for us. Let us also shout the name of the Lord loudly!

Everyone who was with Adonijah, who heard that Solomon had become king, was frightened and ran away. Adonijah was so afraid that he grabbed the horns of the altar and begged to save his life. This is a reversal from the time when he assured himself that he would become king. Let us first seek God's help and guidance when carrying out all our plans, realizing that all our plans cannot be accomplished without God being with us.

God, just as all the people shouted out loud, “Long live King Solomon,” let us also shout out the name of the Lord, the King of humility, who came as the descendants of David and bore the cross for us! And when carrying out every plan, let us first seek God’s help and guidance!
