God of love, justice, and righteousness

 

Jeremiah 9:17-26

 

God says, let the weeping women weep, let the tears fall, let your daughters weep, and teach your neighbors sad songs. For human corpses will fall like dust on the field, and they will become like sheaves of unreaped grain. The Lord also says, "Do not boast in wisdom, valor, or riches, but rather boast in knowing that I, the Lord, am the one who does love, justice, and righteousness." And he says he will punish those who are not circumcised in heart and those who are not circumcised.

 

God is the one who does love, justice, and righteousness on this earth. He judges those who boast in the circumcision of the body (wisdom, strength, and wealth), and saves those who are circumcised in the heart (23-26). They are people who know God's heart and live with God's heart. We must boast to our neighbors and friends, knowing that God is the one who does love, justice, and righteousness on this earth. And we must imitate God who does love, justice and righteousness.

 

Neither the temple nor many sacrifices could prevent Judah's destruction (17-22). Now the streets are overflowing with neon crosses, but the power of the cross has disappeared. Doesn't death roam the streets, ravaging children and young people? In order to live a daily life of practicing love and justice, and conveying the life of resurrection, we must abandon greed and idols in our lives, deny ourselves, take up our cross, and become true disciples who follow the Lord.

 

God, let us know and boast that You are the one who does love, justice, and righteousness on this land! Let us resemble God who does love, justice and righteousness! Let us abandon greed and idols, deny ourselves, take up our cross, and become true disciples who follow You!
