You are that person!
2 Samuel 12:1-14
God makes David realize his mistake through the prophet Nathan. Through the parable of the wicked rich man stealing the ewes of the weak and poor, when David is pointed out that he is an evil rich man, David repents of his sins and is forgiven, but God says through the prophet Nathan that he will face difficulties due to God's judgment.
God forgives those who repent of sin, but he makes them pay for it. He forgives David when he repents his wrongdoing, but he suffers the pain of paying for it. For our sins, let us thank Jesus for paying for our sins on the cross and receive the pain of paying for our sins with sincere repentance.
David talks about rational decision and fair judgment when he hears the metaphor of the evil rich taking away the sheep of the weak poor, but he does not realize his sin. Jesus said, “First, take the log out of your eye. Only then will you be able to see clearly and take the speck out of someone else's eye." We must first realize our own faults and become those who repent.
Prophet Nathan lays down his life to point out King David's fault and preach the word of God. Like the prophet Nathan, we must live a life of courageously pointing out the faults of our leaders and preaching the word of God.
God, thank you for sending Jesus for us and for Jesus to pay for our sins on the cross, so that we can truly repent of our sins and live a life that pays the price for our sins! Before I tell someone to remove the speck, help me to understand my log first and become a repentant person! Like the prophet Nathan, help us to live a life of courageously pointing out the faults of our leaders and preaching the word of God!
