It is wisdom to rely on God for an impartial judgment.

It is wisdom to rely on God for an impartial judgment.

Judges 11:12-28

When Jephthah sent an envoy to King Ammon to ask him why he wanted to invade Israel, King Ammon claimed that Israel had taken his land, so Jephthah took a historical precedent and proclaimed that the land was given to Israel by God after God defeated the Amorites. He prayed for a judgment between Ammon and Ammon, but the king of Ammon did not listen.

The LORD, the God of Israel, delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, so that Israel attacked them and took over all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of the land.(21)

Jephthah prays that the LORD who judges will judge between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon today (verse 27).

God is a righteous judge who judges good and evil. So Jephthah asked God to judge who was right between Israel and Ammon in the face of King Ammon's unjustified aggression and unreasonable demands. It is wisdom to rely on God for an impartial judgment when you are faced with a conflict that is difficult to resolve on your own.

As God's people, we must be able to defend our legitimacy. In response to King Ammon's coercive claim, Jephthah refutes each of them with historical facts and theological arguments. Without knowing our identity and legitimacy, we wither and withdrawn from baseless accusations. The voices of the world toward the church have some criticisms that need to be heard, but there are also forced slurs. Such a voice requires knowledge and wisdom to oppose it.

A righteous God who judges good and evil, when we are faced with a conflict that is difficult to resolve on our own, we depend on God for a fair judgment. Give us the knowledge and wisdom to overcome the threats of the world that shake and shrink our faith!
