The One Thing You lack

Luke 18:15-30

The kingdom of God that Jesus taught was different from the kingdoms of the world. In Jewish society at the time, children were among the lowest in status, but Jesus said that the kingdom of God belongs to these children, and that if they do not accept the kingdom of God like them, they cannot enter the kingdom of God. After that, a rich ruler asked what he must do to obtain eternal life. He wanted both wealth and eternal life, but Jesus told him to choose one of the two.

By welcoming children, who were considered powerless and troublesome, Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is a kingdom where the weak are welcomed and respected (16-17). A community of the kingdom of God that follows Jesus must become a place of rest for the powerless, the sick, the poor, and the marginalized.

It is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (22-25). The rich ruler was confident that he was perfect, but he failed to practice the most important thing: sharing all his possessions and following Jesus. This does not mean that he has no possessions, but that he uses his possessions according to the Lord’s will. Think about what one thing I can sacrifice and practice for the kingdom of God today.

Lord, help us remember that only those who have childlike faith can enter Your kingdom.

주님, 주님의 나라에 들어갈 수 있는 사람은 어린아이와 같은 믿음을 가진 사람이라는 것을 기억하도록 도와주십시오.
