[New Hymn] Chapter 550 The morning when Zion’s glory shines

지난주에 어떻게 보냈나요? How did you spend last week?

 

하나님은 예레미야를 통해 바벨론의 멸망을 예고하십니다. God foretells the destruction of Babylon through Jeremiah. 그런데 그 예언의 시점은 예루살렘이 아직 완전히 패망하기 전입니다. However, the time of the prophecy was before Jerusalem was completely defeated. 유다가 바벨론에 의해 패망하고 포로가 되기 전에 하나님은 이미 바벨론 패망까지 내다보셨습니다. Before Judah was defeated and taken captive by Babylon, God had already foreseen the fall of Babylon. 유다를 징벌하기 전에 유다의 회복까지 계획해두신 것입니다. Before punishing Judah, God even planned Judah's recovery. 이처럼 하나님은 자기 백성의 잘못을 벌하시지만, 징계의 시한을 두십니다. In this way, God punishes the mistakes of his people, but sets a time limit for discipline. 반면, 바벨론의 멸망은 시한이 없는, 영원한 패망입니다. On the other hand, the fall of Babylon is an eternal destruction with no time limit.

 

□말씀과 나눔 Words and Sharing

1. 떠들썩한 바벨론도 ‘왕 중의 왕’이신 하나님의 통치를 받아야 합니다(54~58절) 1. Noisy Babylon must also be ruled by God, the ‘King of kings’ (verses 54-58)

1) 바벨론의 ‘큰 소리’가 어떻게 ‘파멸의 소리’로 변합니까?(54~55절)

1) How does Babylon’s ‘loud voice’ change into the ‘sound of destruction’? (verses 54-55)

(렘 51:54) ○바벨론으로부터 부르짖는 소리가 들리도다 갈대아 사람의 땅에 큰 파멸의 소리가 들리도다

(렘 51:55) 이는 여호와께서 바벨론을 황폐하게 하사 그 큰 소리를 끊으심이로다 원수는 많은 물 같이 그 파도가 사나우며 그 물결은 요란한 소리를 내는도다

(Jer 51:54) A voice of crying is heard from Babylon, a voice of great destruction is heard in the land of the Chaldeans.

(Jer 51:55) For the LORD hath made Babylon desolate, and hath cut off her loud noise; the enemy is like many waters, whose waves are violent, and whose waves make an uproar.

바벨론의 ‘큰 소리(활력 넘치는 바벨론)’가 원수의 요란한 ‘물결 소리(바벨론을 덮치는 적군)’에 의해 묻히고 만다. 결국 바벨론의 ‘큰 소리’는 ‘파멸의 (곡)소리’로 변할 것이다. The ‘loud sound’ of Babylon (vital Babylon) is drowned out by the loud ‘sound of waves’ of the enemy (enemy forces attacking Babylon). In the end, the ‘loud voice’ of Babylon will change into the ‘sound of destruction.’

 

2) 바벨론을 궁극적으로 멸망시킨 분은 누구입니까?(56절)

2) Who ultimately destroyed Babylon? (verse 56)

(렘 51:56) 곧 멸망시키는 자가 바벨론에 이르렀음이라 그 용사들이 사로잡히고 그들의 활이 꺾이도다 여호와는 보복의 하나님이시니 반드시 보응하시리로다

(Jer 51:56) The destroyer is come to Babylon; her warriors are taken captive, and their bows are broken. The LORD is a God of vengeance, and he will surely repay.

 

바벨론을 ‘멸망시키는 자’(페르시아)를 사용하신 분은 ‘보복하시는 여호와 하나님’이시다. The one who used ‘the destroyer’ (Persia) of Babylon is ‘Jehovah God who avenges.’

 

3) 하나님은 바벨론의 권력자들에게 어떤 일을 하십니까?(57절)

3) What does God do to those in power in Babylon? (verse 57)

(렘 51:57) 만군의 여호와라 일컫는 왕이 이와 같이 말씀하시되 내가 그 고관들과 지혜 있는 자들과 도백들과 태수들과 용사들을 취하게 하리니 그들이 영원히 잠들어 깨어나지 못하리라

(Jer 51:57) Thus saith the King, who is called Jehovah of hosts: I will make drunken his princes, and his wise men, and his governors, and his satraps, and his mighty men; and they shall sleep forever, and shall not wake up.

고관, 지혜자, 도백(총독), 태수(지방장관), 용사를 취하게 하셔서 그들이 영원히 잠들어 깨어나지 못하게 하신다. He makes high officials, wise men, governors, provincial ministers, and warriors drunk, so that they fall asleep forever and cannot wake up.

 

<나눔 1> 하나님 앞에서 자기 잘난 맛에 떠드는 소리는 하나님의 의로운 말씀이 임할 때 맥을 못 춥니다. The noisy chattering of showing off oneself before God becomes powerless when the righteous Word of God comes. 내 귀에 하나님의 말씀보다 더 크게 들리는 소리는 무엇인지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about what sounds louder to my ears than the word of God. ‘악하고 교만한 소리’가 ‘말씀의 소리’에 덮인 경험도 이야기해봅시다. Let’s also talk about the experience of the ‘evil and arrogant voice’ being covered by the ‘sound of the word’.

 

‘(하나님의) 말씀 문자를 보내면 경찰에 신고한다’는 소리가 내 귀에 하나님의 말씀보다 더 크게 들린 때가 있었어요. 하지만 ‘내가 너와 함께 한다. 두려워 말라’는 ‘말씀의 소리’가 그 악하고 교만한 소리를 덮여 나는 평안함과 담대함을 얻을 수 있었어요.

There was a time when the voice saying, ‘If you send a text message of (God’s) word, we will report it to the police,’ sounded louder than the word of God in my ears. But The ‘voice of the God's Word’, ‘Do not be afraid, I am with you.’ covered that evil and arrogant voice and I was able to gain peace and confidence.

 

<나눔 2> 만왕의 왕은 하나님뿐입니다. 제아무리 큰 권력을 쥐고 위세를 떠는 자들도 다 하나님의 주권 아래 있습니다. <Sharing 2> The only King of kings is God. Even those who hold the greatest authority and exercise the greatest power in the world are under the sovereignty of God. ‘하나님이 최고의 주권자’이심을 믿는 믿음이 필요한 때는 언제입니까? When is it necessary to have faith that ‘God is the supreme sovereign’? 하나님이 만물의 주권자이심을 경험한 적이 있습니까? Have you ever experienced that God is sovereign over all things?

군인이나 경찰 그리고 재판장 앞에 설 때 하나님이 최고의 주권자이심을 믿는 믿음이 필요한 때입니다.

When we stand before soldiers, police, or judges, we need to have faith in God as the supreme sovereign.

파키스탄과 인도의 접경 검문소를 통과할 때 하나님을 의지하며 인도 군인에게 복음을 전했을 때, 그가 감사하다고 표현한 것으로 하나님이 저를 보호해주시는 만물의 주권자이심을 경험하였습니다.

When passing through the border checkpoint between Pakistan and India, I relied on God and preached the gospel to an Indian soldier, and when he expressed his gratitude, I experienced that God is the sovereign over all things who protects me.

 

2. 예레미야는 바벨론 멸망에 관한 신탁(神託)을 기록하여 바벨론으로 보냅니다(59~64절) 2. Jeremiah writes an oracle about the destruction of Babylon and sends it to Babylon (verses 59-64)

1) 예레미야는 하나님의 말씀을 언제 누구에게 전달합니까(59절)?

1) When and to whom does Jeremiah deliver the word of God (verse 59)?

 

(렘 51:59) ○유다의 시드기야 왕 제사년에 마세야의 손자 네리야의 아들 스라야가 그 왕과 함께 바벨론으로 갈 때에 선지자 예레미야가 그에게 말씀을 명령하니 스라야는 병참감이더라

(Jer 51:59) In the fourth year of King Zedekiah of Judah, when Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maseiah, went with the king to Babylon, Jeremiah the prophet gave him a command: Seraiah was the quartermaster.

 

예레미야는 유다 시드기야 왕 제 4년 (주전 594년)에, 병참감 스라야에게 전달합니다. Jeremiah delivered it to Seraiah, the quartermaster, in the 4th year of King Zedekiah of Judah (594 B.C.).

 

2) 예레미야가 전달한 예언의 핵심 내용은 무엇입니까?(60~62절)

2) What is the core content of the prophecy delivered by Jeremiah? (verses 60-62)

 

(렘 51:60) 예레미야가 바벨론에 닥칠 모든 재난 곧 바벨론에 대하여 기록한 이 모든 말씀을 한 책에 기록하고

(렘 51:61) 스라야에게 말하기를 너는 바벨론에 이르거든 삼가 이 모든 말씀을 읽고

(렘 51:62) 말하기를 여호와여 주께서 이 곳에 대하여 말씀하시기를 이 땅을 멸하여 사람이나 짐승이 거기에 살지 못하게 하고 영원한 폐허가 되리라 하셨나이다 하라 하니라

 

(Jer 51:60) All these words that Jeremiah had written against Babylon, all the disasters that were to come on Babylon, were written in one book.

(Jer 51:61) Say to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, be careful to read all these words.

(Jer 51:62) Say, “O LORD, you have spoken of this place, saying, ‘I will destroy this land, so that neither man nor beast will live in it, and it will become an everlasting desolation.’”

 

바벨론에 닥칠 모든 재판으로서, 바벨론이 망하여 그 땅에 사람이나 짐승이 살지 못하고 영원히 폐허가 될 것이라는 내용입니다.

It is a judgment that will come to Babylon, and it means that Babylon will fall and no man or beast will live in the land, and it will remain in ruins forever.

 

3) 스라야는 예언의 말씀을 낭독한 후에 그 책을 어떻게 처리해야 합니까?(63~64절) 3) What should Seraiah do with the book after reading the words of prophecy? (verses 63-64)

 

(렘 51:63) 너는 이 책 읽기를 다한 후에 책에 돌을 매어 유브라데 강 속에 던지며 계18:21

(렘 51:64) 말하기를 바벨론이 나의 재난 때문에 이같이 몰락하여 다시 일어서지 못하리니 그들이 피폐하리라 하라 하니라 예레미야의 말이 이에 끝나니라

(Jer 51:63) When you have finished reading this book, tie a stone to it and throw it into the River Euphrates. Revelation 18:21

(Jeremiah 51:64) Say, ‘Babylon will fall like this because of my calamity, and will never rise again; she will be desolate.’” This ended Jeremiah’s words.

 

스라야는 책에 돌을 매어 유브라데 강에 던지며 말하기를 바벨론이 재난 때문에 이같이 몰락하여 다시 일어서지 못하리니 그들이 피폐하리라고 말해야 합니다.

Seraiah tied a stone to a book and threw it into the Euphrates River, saying, “Babylon will fall like this because of the calamity and will never rise again, and she will be devastated.”

 

<나눔 3> 예레미야는 예루살렘이 망하기 전에 바벨론의 패망까지 내다봤습니다. <Sharing 3> Jeremiah even predicted the fall of Babylon before the fall of Jerusalem. 예레미야가 유다 백성에게 전한 ‘바벨론에 의한 예루살렘 멸망’은 처음부터 영원한 심판이 아니라 한시적인 징계였습니다. From the beginning, the ‘destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon’ that Jeremiah preached to the people of Judah was not an eternal judgment but a temporary punishment. 내가 경험한 하나님의 징계는 무엇인지, 그 징계를 통해 내가 얻은 것은 무엇인지 이야기해봅시다. Let’s talk about what God’s discipline I experienced and what I gained through that discipline.

 

아내의 허락을 받지 않고 코로나 기간 중 해외 단기 선교 여행을 계획했다고 실패를 한 경험을 통해 좋은 선교 여행도 아내의 허락이 필요하고 한 마음이 되어 주님의 일을 해야 한다는 교훈을 얻었습니다.

Through my experience of failing to plan a short-term mission trip abroad during the COVID-19 period without my wife's permission, I learned a lesson that a good mission trip requires my wife's permission and that we must be of one mind to do the Lord's work.

 

□함께 기도드려요 Let's pray together

하늘에 계신 우리 아버지, 우리가 당신의 모든 만물에 대한 주권을 신뢰하고 잘못된 권위에 복종하지 않도록 도와주소서.

Our Heavenly Father, help us to trust in Your sovereignty over all things and help us not to submit to the wrong authority.

하나님이 이 땅을 회복하실 것을 고대하면서 오늘 하루를 소망 가운데 견디게 하소서!

Let us endure this day in hope as we wait for God to restore this land!
