The End of Disobedience
The End of Disobedience
Deuteronomy 28:58-68
If the Israelites violate God's word and break the covenant they made with God, the blessings God promised will be canceled and all disasters and diseases will come upon the Israelites. They will be driven out of the Promised Land and scattered among the nations, and they will live in such anxiety, fear, and terror that they cannot come to their senses. The Israelites who betrayed God will return from being owners of the land of Canaan to being slaves in Egypt. You will become an abandoned slave among slaves and will be reduced to a more miserable state than before.
God will bring great disaster on you and your people if you do not faithfully keep all the words of the law and fear the glorious and awesome name of the Lord God (9,10). Forsaking God and His Word is the most miserable path. The saying that you will be freer if you leave God, that you will be richer if you abandon God's word, and that you will have more fun if you break God's law are all lies. The history of Israel's destruction and captivity in Babylon confirms this fact. Do not turn away from the embrace and word of God.
Only in God can we enjoy rest and peace. Restlessness, fatigue, and fear are inherent problems of social structure, but they are fundamentally phenomena that occur in humans who have lost God. Does the world make us feel uneasy? It may be because our hearts have strayed from God.
God, let us remember that we can enjoy blessings when we obey Your Word, fear You, and enjoy blessings by completely obeying Your Word!
