Salvation Given by Grace

Deuteronomy 9:1-12

The reason God gave Israel a good land to occupy was not because of their goodness, but because of the wickedness of the Canaanites and the promise God made to the ancestors of Israel. Israel should not mistakenly believe that they are being good when these events unfold before their eyes. If they look at their footsteps, they are a stubborn people who actually offended God. They must not forget how they made an idol at Mount Horeb, angered God, and almost destroyed them.

God makes a way before his people. As Moses said, God will cross before Israel and destroy the Canaanites before Israel. The difficulties and losses on the way to following God's will may seem great. But if we take steps down that path, God will remove the difficulties before us.

We must face how evil we ourselves are. Moses reminded the Israelites of their repeated disobedience to God so that they would not mistakenly believe that they were good and righteous. Remember Paul’s confession, “I am the worst of all sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15). When you look in front of the mirror of the Word, you will be able to see yourself plainly as you really are.

Dear Lord, thank You for keeping Your promises despite our wickedness and foolishness.

사랑하는 주님, 우리의 사악함과 어리석음에도 불구하고 약속을 지키시니 감사드립니다.
