The treasure chosen by God
The treasure chosen by God
Deuteronomy 7:1-11
Because Israel is a people specially chosen by God, they must not enter into any covenants or marriages with the Canaanites who worship idols, and they must remove all the idols they serve. Israel is an insignificant people, but God loves them unilaterally and fulfills the promise he swore to them. As the chosen people, Israel must choose God, not idols, and as the people who have received the promise, they must get rid of idols and keep the promises given by God.
God is someone who loves unconditionally. Israel was an insignificant nation, but God simply loved them and chose them. Are you discouraged by people who measure your worth by the standards of this world? Let us gain strength again by remembering that we are people who receive abundant love from God, the Creator of the whole world.
We must reject cultures that do not acknowledge God. There are things in world culture that we must accept, and there are also things that we must not yield or compromise on. Based on the Word, let us discern the culture of the world and the spirit of the times in which we live.
Lord, help us to throw away the things that interfere with us serving You.
