Philippians 1:1-11
Paul, imprisoned in a Roman prison, writes a letter to the Philippian church while awaiting sentencing. The Philippian church is the first church that Paul founded when he went to Europe. The Philippian believers supported Paul to spread the gospel throughout Europe and are still in prison. He was helping Paul, who was imprisoned. He was thankful and rejoiced because it was clear that if God had started, he would complete the salvation without failure. Paul was grateful to see the Philippian saints participating in the gospel and overcoming hardships, and he was thankful that they did not lose heart and continued to do good works until the end. He pray that it will come true
God begins a good work and always completes it (6) Even if it is not yet perfect, if the seed of the gospel planted in your heart has sprouted, God has started a good work. Do not be ashamed or anxious because it is small and weak. God is faithful. He will grow the sprouts of the gospel that have sprouted in our lives into wonderful trees.
God testifies how much Paul desperately misses the Philippian saints with the heart of Christ Jesus. (8) God testifies how much I also miss you.
Paul prays earnestly for the Philippian saints (9-11) I also pray earnestly for you, that your love may abound with knowledge and all insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best; I pray that you may remain pure and blameless until the day of Christ, and that you may be filled with the fruits of righteousness from Jesus Christ and bring glory and praise to God.
