Dealing with False Teachers
Dealing with False Teachers
Titus 1:10-16
Paul writes to Titus that there are many disobedient, vain talkers and deceitful people who must be silenced. For they teach what they ought not to teach and upset whole families for dishonest gain. Since the Cretans are liars, evil beasts, and lazy people who only know how to eat, rebuke them severely so that they may be sound in their faith, and not listen to the lies of the Jews or the commands of those who betray the truth. Paul commands. Because their thoughts and consciences are defiled, and they say they know God with their mouth, but they deny it by their actions. They are abominable and stubborn, unable to do any good.
We must stop the mouths of those who are disobedient, talk in vain and deceive. Because they teach what they shouldn't teach and destroy families in order to gain dishonest gain (vv. 10,11).
We must severely rebuke liars and idlers, so that they may be sound in their faith, and not listen to the lies or the commands of those who betray the truth. Because their thoughts and consciences are defiled, and with their mouth they say they know God, but in their actions they deny Him. They are stubborn, unable to do any good (vv. 12-16).
God, let us shut the mouths of those who disobey, speak vain words and deceive! And let us severely rebuke liars and idlers, so that they may be sound in their faith, and do not listen to the lies or the commands of those who betray the truth!
