Be at Peace Be Strong

Daniel 10:10-21

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, after Daniel had a vision of war and mourned for three days, and saw the glorious One clothed in white linen by the river Hiddekel (Tigris), Daniel fell asleep with his face to the ground. One hand touches Daniel and lifts him up, saying, “I have been sent to you,” and “your words have been answered since the day you humbled yourself before God.” “But the ruler of the kingdom of Persia stopped me for 21 days, but Michael, one of the highest rulers, came to help me so that I would know what your people will face in the last days.” Someone like a son of man touched Daniel and strengthened him, saying, “Do not be afraid, man who has received great favor, be in peace, be strong, be strong.” And “I will go back and fight the rulers of Persia and Greece, but the only one who will help me is Michael.”

God sends someone like a son of man to Daniel in fear and despair to give him peace and courage. After Jesus resurrected, he visited the disciples in fear and gave them peace that the world could not know. God gives us peace and courage by sending the Holy Spirit even in the midst of fear and despair.

The ruler of the kingdom of Persia stopped the Son of Man for 21 days, but Michael, one of the highest rulers, came to help him and came to Daniel to make him realize what his people would face on the last day. When we pray, God works and the forces of darkness get in the way, but let's pray more, confident that the greater hand of God helps us, and let's handle God's work with the peace and courage God has given us.

God, send us the Holy Spirit in the midst of fear and despair to give us peace and courage! Defeat the interference of the forces of darkness, trust in God who helps us, and let us handle God's work!
