Almighty God above all gods

 

1 Samuel 5:1-12

 

The Philistines won the war with Israel and took the ark of the covenant of the LORD and placed it before their god, Dagon. However, the image of Dagon was overturned in front of the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and his head and arms were broken, and the Philistines fell ill with a malignant tumor. The same goes for moving to another city, so the Philistine leaders decide to return the Ark of the Covenant to Israel.

 

God is the greatest and most powerful of all gods. The two sons of Eli the priest, Hophni and Bishhas, and the Israelites who had the ark of the covenant of the Lord in front of them because of the sins of the Israelites were defeated in the war against the Philistines, but the image of Dagon in front of the ark of the covenant was broken in front of the Lord to show God's omnipotence. . Sometimes we face difficulties because of our sins, but let's believe that God's greatness will be revealed someday and live a life that fears God completely.

 

We must cast away the vain gods of the world and live a life that fears and honors only Almighty God. Let's throw away the idols we loved more than God and live a life that is loved and honored by God through a life that only loves and honors God.

 

Almighty God who excels above all gods, help us get rid of our idols that we loved more than God, and live a life that only loves and honors God, so that we can live a life that is loved and honored by God!
