King of Humility

 

John 12:12-19

 

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, many people cheered. They waited for a king (Messiah) to liberate them from Roman domination, and they cheered, thinking that Jesus was that King. But Jesus, riding on a colt, is the humble King of Peace who fulfills the prophecy of the prophet Zechariah. Jesus will leave their enthusiasm behind and ascend Golgotha ​​towards the sufferings of the cross.

 

Jesus is the King of humility and peace. He does not achieve peace through force and power, violence and oppression, but through love and service. The King calls us to make peace with the love of the cross and serve the world humbly in this world of war and competition. Is the reign of the humble King of Peace ruling our lives?

 

The crowd finds a king for themselves. The reason the crowd was excited was because they thought Jesus was the King who could satisfy their expectations and desires. But He is the King who will die on the cross, the King who makes us give up our expectations and desires and pursue the glory of God. What kind of king do I consider Jesus to be?

 

Lord, help me to seek the glory of the eternal God, not swayed by the cheers and enthusiasm of others who are perishing.
