Am I a true disciple?

 

John 6:60–71

 

No one can come to Jesus unless God the Father grants him (65)

 

Jesus has the words of eternal life, and because Jesus is the Holy One of God, never leave Him (67-71).

 

Jesus knows who His true disciples are. While the crowd listened to Jesus speak, it soon became apparent which if them had or had not been elected by God. Those who believed Jesus’ words grew firmer in faith but those who dis not believe fell into deep confusion. That there were more people who departed than the number of disciples that remained is a demonstration of how tough and narrow the path of following the Word of truth to get to eternal lifd is. Are you a true disciple?

 

God’s Word became an obstable to those who did not want to submit fully to God’s will but stubbornly adhered to their own. If we are not ready to hear the Word, it cannot take root in our herart. We need to receive the Word just as it is spoken rather than using the Word to meet our expectations and greed.

 

Lord, help me to realize my foolishness through the truth and to follow Your path to the end.
