Judges 5:19-31

 

The angel of the Lord cursed Meros. For they did not come to the aid of the Lord or to fight the mighty men of the enemy.(23)

 

Unlike the inhabitants of Meros, who were cursed for refusing to participate in Jehovah's war, as an ordinary woman, Jael took an active part in Jehovah's war and made the most of it. At the crossroads of Meros and Jael, how is my devotion today?

 

When Deborah, the mother of Israel, sings the song of victory, the mother of Sisera, who represents Canaan, must shed bitter tears. Even today the wicked will repeat only vain wishes that will never be fulfilled, unaware of their defeat.

 

Pray that all the enemies of the Lord will be destroyed, and that those who love Him may become like the rising sun with strength (31).

Lord, help me not to follow the path of Meroz or Sisera but to follow the example of Jael and Deborah.
